301/365 My favorite Christmas Gift

This is Taco. Six years ago on Christmas day this little guy was dropped off on my cousins deck by his mom. I talked my mom and dad into taking care of him. He still lives with my parents, they fell in love with him and won't let me take him away. He was so fun and cuddly the week I was home. I miss him so much!

When Josh first saw this photo he said, "wow you don't look too good". I also wasn't feeling so good. I had to spend Monday night in the airport. I got on a plane and then had to turn around back to Portland because one of the doors wasn't shut...other crazy crap happened along the way but I made it back to Minnesota!

The more it snows my chances of making it home get less and less. The worse my chances of getting home the more homesick I become. I my fiancé who works for an airline keeps telling me we’ll figure something out, but I can hear the uncertainty in his voice. I know he’s running out of ideas. I knew when I moved out here that I may be giving up the possibility of spending holidays with my family. I’ve been sitting at home for the last week so looking forward to my trip...what can you do. I’ll make it home sooner or later, possibly later then sooner.

296/365 walking in a winter wonderland

I'm so flipping sick of the snow!! This is why I left Minnesota! The problem here in Portland is the City doesn't have the means to get rid of the snow....and it just keeps coming and coming. Josh and I went for a walk in Washington Park tonight. I have to say it's pretty beautiful. People were skiing and snowboarding though the park and down the streets. It sure is something.

Josh and I decided we had to get out of the house tonight so we took the Max downtown to Buffalo Wild wings to eat some junk food and watch the Cowboy/Giants game. On the way home I stopped in Pioneer Courthouse Square so I could take some photos of the Christmas tree. It was freaking cold out and this guy kept bugging me for a lighter even though I insisted that I didn't have one. Oh well you have to love winter in Portland!

287/365 Ice cream night.

My mom gave Josh a gift card to Cold Stone for his birthday. I really love the Dark Chocolate Peppermint and they only have it around Christmas. I talked him into going out to night to get some ice cream even though it's kind of cold out. The closest Cold Stone is in the West Hills where it's about 500 ft. above sea level. The funny thing was while we were there it started snowing. Here we were the only people in the shop eating ice cream, Josh was wearing shorts and it was snowing.

Yep we're from Minnesota.

is one of the many nicknames for this fountain in front of the Standard Insurance Center in down town Portland. It's actually called The Quest by Alexander Von Svoboda, but I like it's other names Three Groins in a Fountain, The Grope, and Family Night at the YMCA. I actually think it's a really pretty fountain and that was my reason for taking photos of it tonight.

The short days don't give me a whole lot of time to take the natural light photos that I love taking. The early evenings have been a challenge for me and my little camera. Since I just have my point and shoot and I don't have fancy lenses or lights I really have to experiment more. I guess that’s why I’m doing this project 365 thing…I like a challenge and I like trying to figure out things on my own.

I had a really bad photo day today...I took all these photos that I thought were awesome and then when I uploaded them on to my computer they were nothing but crap! Now I have 2 photos of myself that I can't decide between for my project365. I might bounce back and forth between the 2 photos for a few days until I decide which one I like better. I decided to play Flickr Group Roulette today...it's been a few days. Today was Roaming Thru the Gloaming...photos taken from dusk till dawn. I really like my stairwell...it has a great view of the city, it's covered from the rain and it's peaceful. It's kinda cool to sit in such a quite place and look out at the city lights below and think of all the crazy things that could be going on down there.
