You may or may not be able to tell but I'm struggling with my project 365. I haven't really found my groove yet. I really want to stick with it. I'm just so sick of taking half-assed photos of things sitting around my apartment. My plan for the next week is to not wait until the last min to take my photo and to actually take my camera with me out and about. We'll see how it goes.

I was getting ready for bed when I realized that I hadn't taken my photo for the day. I opened up the closet where I keep my camera and took a photo of the first thing I saw. That just happened to be my shoes. I am bound and determined not to fail at this 3rd go-round. I'm going to do everything in my power to take a photo everyday and not get down on myself if the photo is lame.

Josh and I recently moved to a larger apartment in out complex to make room for our new little room mate. We lived in our old apartment for two and a half years and did not have a view of the road. I love having a view of the street below. I may be easily amused but it's like having a whole new form of entertainment!

I won this cyclamen a few months back at a conference I went to for work. I think I over watered it before heading back to MN for Christmas. When I got back all the flowers were wilted :( I don't have much of a green thumb but I love having plants. We'll see if I can bring this one back to life.

Wearing a ring is a very new thing for Josh. It doesn't help that his ring is about a half size to big. I find the ring in the most random places. On Monday I got home from work after Josh had already gone to bed and there was his ring just hanging out in the kitchen. I so surprised he hasn't lost it yet...I wonder where I'll find it next.

Josh and I drove all the way to the end of the north shore on our last full day in Kauai. I told Josh that I wasn't going to leave Kauai until I saw a sea turtle. Well Ke'e beach was where we ran into a bunch of them...what amazing animals! Ke'e beach was pretty busy and I think they're easier ways to find turtles on the island but who cares we found some turtles!

Here's a photo of my first tropical drink in Hawaii. Josh and I spent the day at the beach in front of our resort. We went out for dinner at Keoke's Paradise. We ended up eating there three times on our trip. twice for dinner and once for a snack. We ended up driving to a small town on the west side of the island to watch fireworks that night.

When Josh woke up our first morning in Kauai he told me he wanted to change rooms. Our condo was right next to the road and all we heard all night were cars and chickens. The people at our resort were so kind and put us in a room with an ocean view! This was the first thing that I saw when I walked out of the first condo. It had been dark when we arrived the night before so I had no idea of all the beauty that was surrounding us!

Josh and I gave ourselves an extra day to get things done in Minnesota before heading back to Portland and then off to our honeymoon. We ended up getting all our errands done early in the morning so we spent the rest of the day visiting some fun places in southern Minnesota. We went to Minneopa Falls near Mankato and then we drove to New Ulm to meet my sis and her man at the Schell Brewery. While we were in the tasting room one of the other guys on the Brewery tour thought Josh would get a kick out of Schell's newish beer, Lakemaid.

I really didn't take to many photo's the day after the wedding. Josh and I were pretty wiped out. We opened wedding presents around noon. Went out for Mexican food with my sis and her man for lunch. I took this the day before the wedding. My toes are the one's on the right. I have to say the day before the wedding was a pretty busy day. My mom, sis and I got our nails done in the morning. After that went to kinkos and printed of the wedding programs. When we got back home Josh's uncle was there with the car he was going to drive us around in after the wedding. Then we capped off the day with the wedding rehearsal and grooms dinner.

I went with my mom to the Mayo Clinic to day. She had her hip replaced earlier this year and had a check up to make sure everything is working right. My friend Matt/wedding photographer flew in tonight and my family took him out to eat...all in all crazy but fun day.

I stayed at work until 10:30 tonight working on getting stuff done for the 3 weeks . I didn't get everything I wanted to done that I wanted to but I made a pretty decent dent. I drove around for 15min looking for a parking spot. I took a photo of the bridge that I live by on the way back to my apartment. I didn't have a tripod with me so I jacked up the ISO's so this photo is a pretty poor quality photograph. It was kinda of a cool picture spot though...I might have to take some time some evening and take some pictures here with the tripod.

I survived the first day of summer camp at work with minimal issues. It's such a huge transition time up at are center with tons of new staff, new kids, and new parents. Josh and I went out for ice cream tonight. We tried Cold Stones new Jello Pudding ice cream with peanut butter, caramel and chocolate sauce. Yep it was yummy!

My photos this week were all pretty last minute shots. Tonight was no exception. I ran up to work tonight to check in on the rental...it was a cool one with rock bands and middle schoolers. When I got back I realized I hadn't taken a photo yet. Luckily a few minuets after realizing that fireworks started at PGE park. I ran out to the fire escape with out grabbing the tripod. I racked up the ISO's, propped the camera up on the ledge and shot a couple of photos.

First trip to the Rose garden in '09 101/365 year#2

Today was my first time up to the rose garden this year. It's practically in my back yard but I've been so busy this year that I haven't made it up there yet. I took lots of photos but really didn't like to many of them. I'm always big on the shallow DOF when I'm in the rose garden so I decided to challenge my self and rack up the aperture. Days like this make me long for a really wide lens.

I'm also not real happy with the editing today...I edited the heck out of this photo and now the quality is pretty lousy. Tomorrow I hope to have a better photo!

My Portland friends threw Josh and I a party last night since most of them can't make our wedding. My friend Dave and Kim were the ringleaders of the whole ordeal. I have to say It was one of the most fun nights I've had since moving here. It's crazy I haven't even been in Portland for 2 years and I have some of the most amazing friends here. Another pretty wild day! There was another Potluck at work and a baby shower for two co-workers. Sometimes there's so much crazy stuff going on up there I feel like I'm in an episode of the Office. I also drove over to another community center tonight to help with summer camp training. It was a little daunting to train my peers but also such a great experience. I really love what I do and at this point I'll take any experience I can get. I think it's going to be another wild day again tomorrow.

Oh yeah...this is a photo of our new salt and pepper mills that we received for a wedding gift. They're great!

It was a pretty wild day today. When I got to work there was a pretty crazy potluck going on for the preschoolers. During my after school program all the kids were kind of off kilter. I think it had to do with the weather. A huge thunderstorm rolled in through down town Portland. It was pretty exciting but it did do some damage. When I got home a parked behind the channel 8 news van. A huge tree fell on a house behind my apartment complex. Pretty freaky!

I actully liked this photo better because it looks like he's driving the car, but I used to slow of a shutter speed and had camera shake.

I went and lounged out on the sun deck this evening. We have had some pretty great weather here in Portland...It makes me excited for summer camp, days at the pool, and slip and slide! Whoop Whoop what a great time of year!

I went for a long photo walk today to play with my new lens. It's an adjustment after always using a fixed lens but I like it! It's been so muggy here but I don't care...It's summer and I love it!

Today was a pretty exciting day for me. I had my first photo shoot ever. My friends Stephanie and Stephanie are graduating from college this month. Their moms wanted Photos of them in their caps and gowns. They asked if I could take some photos...I jumped at the chance!

I went for a long walk this evening. Josh left for his Bachelor party in Vegas bright and early this morning. I talked to him tonight and it sounds like he's having fun and he also won some money.
I've been a little melancholy this week. There's been a lot of things going on in my life that I've had very little control over. It's very humbling.
